It can be hard at times to understand or take our role and worth as a woman. As woman we often feel not good enough, not getting the recognition for what we do for our families and friends. Whether you’re a mother, daughter, sister etc. We all lack that feeling of not being seen for what we do, how much we care, and how we just want to be shown a little more love, grace, and tender care that we give. We can often feel worthless without purpose and our desires buried away.
You need to know that when God created you, He first had an idea (an image / imagination) of you. God took the time to think about your very being, what you would look like, why He has created you. Within each one of us, he placed He’s DNA in us. The same as the DNA we receive from our parents, we carry certain characteristics of them, we might even look alike. The same is with our Father in Heaven. He has given a piece of Himself to each one of us to resemble a part of who He is. Wow, how amazing that is.
With that He has placed a dream, a desire, to grow here on earth as part of the key plan He has for us here on earth to fulfill His plans.
Woman of God, today I want to encourage you, know your worth in Christ. The creator of the Universe took time to form you, the Almighty Living God planned your life with purpose. In Ephesians 2:10 God says to you “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
We often look to another woman, comparing ourselves. Thinking how can “she “do it all, and that can be discouraging. I once heard a friend say that she wakes up at 4 o’clock in the morning to pack lunch boxes, she would make chicken nuggets and make all these nutritious foods for her children. When I heard it, I immediately compared myself, wondering if I’m a bad mother. I wake up almost late every day, packing lunch boxes in record time and taking things out of the cupboard with just what I have at that time. It bothered me so bad, I even my husband whether I’m a good enough mother, do I do enough… After a few days pondering about it, Holy Spirit told me not to feel so discouraged, we grow with time, my kids are small, and I should not let these small things discourage me. My kids love me, and no school lunch will make them love me less. But Holy Spirit also has a sense of humor, right around that time I was notified by the school, that my son who is starting Gr R next year will not have breakfast at school anymore. I will have to wake up earlier to give him breakfast and have more time for lunch boxes. I couldn’t help to giggle, because I realized that God even sees such a small and to some stupid thing that he’ll help me to grow in that area too.
We often feel that we do so much but don’t always get recognized for the labor.
Or we do not have the energy to even try and live up to be a perfect woman.
What we often miss is that our worth does not lie in the people around us, how they see us or even how we see ourselves. Our worth comes within, in a treasure that God has placed within us, a treasure he opens when we let him, He sees every detail, and wants to help us unpack this treasure inside of us.
As a woman I like to think about us woman as all these different precious stones in a treasure in front of God. We all shine differently and look different. In life some people like certain precious stones more than others, but all these precious stones still hold value, regardless if someone likes a certain stone or not, or buys them or not.
But even better, your value is priceless. Paid with blood by Jesus on a cross, because He wanted you, and knew how important you’ll be to His bigger plan. When we discover this treasure that is within us our vision and desires come alive again.
It is a journey, and sometimes we can lose hope on this journey. When we look at the woman in the bible, it can encourage us and sometimes put things more into perspective for us.
Moses ‘mother, Jochebed, lived in troubled times in Egypt. The king decreed that all Hebrew boys was to be killed. Jochebed hid Moses, she placed him in a basket onto a river to float away from her. Thant must have been difficult to do, hoping for his safety, that he’ll live and maybe never to see him again.
In that one act all her purpose, her destiny was revealed, to have freedom as a nation. Her son leads a nation out of Egypt.
Now if you’re a mother, you must never underestimate your purpose and responsibility, you might be the woman behind your child that would change the future greatly. A Lunch box or being late for a soccer game will not change that.
Queen Ester, if you know her full story, she is probably the most loved role model for us Christian woman today. The reason I want to highlight her is because of her calmness in a very scary situation. Knowing her worth, and even presenting herself as a woman of worth in front of the king. Haman the court official persuaded the king to kill all the Jews. Ester being a Jew, knew she could not let it happen. Ester was treated with oil, myrrh, and perfumes for six months (purification) until she was ready to sit down with the king to try and persuade him from killing her people. And it worked. Everything she had asked for was given to her.
Ester knew her worth, she knew with patience and presenting herself pure and righteous, that she could have favor with the king. Ester did not have favor with Haman. He did not see her the way the king saw her.
Hanna, an infertile woman who struggles to find self-worth. Hannas’ husband had two wives. Peninnah, the other wife who had children continually provoked Hanna to irritate her, but Hanna was favored by their husband with double portion. He saw Hannas’ worth and loved her. That did not let Hanna feel more worthy or loved, she was consumed by sadness, for what she desired she did not have. In 1 Samuel 1:10-15 she gives a deep prayer of her desires to the Lord, and the Lord blessed her with the desire. She gave birth to Samuel.
Hanna found her worth in Christ and not in her husband or the people around her. Peninnah continually criticized Hanna, don’t we all have a Peninnah in our lives? And no matter how well others treat us, we still feel worthless. It is because our worth does not lie in the people around us, it in in Christ where we find our worth, our desires and purpose.
Eve had a great influence over Adam. Eve was persuaded by the serpent to eat the fruit and gave it to Adam. I want you to see something powerful. Eve was the one (the helper) who persuaded Adam to eat the same fruit. We as woman hold a great influence towards the future of our men and families.
We can influence, help shape minds and change destinies. That is a big responsibility and purpose that we have as woman.
You are no less than these women who had influence to change destinies and purpose with their challenges and hardships. I want to encourage you to walk with confidence, that what God has placed inside of you, can change outcomes. You might feel that you don’t measure up to what the world says you should be and what you lack, people will criticize; And yes, we might lack what others have, but so do they lack what you have. We were not created to all be the same. We were not created to be liked by everyone. We were created with purpose and worth, representing a piece of our Heavenly Father. Your purpose and worth will attract the people that will be able to see that. That is where you will have an impact.
You can change our mindset to how you view yourself, your current circumstances, and your feeling of worthlessness, and not let it dictate your outcome. When we live our daily lives, full of challenges and their worries, we still have the decision to let it dictate our worth, or let your worth be revealed through these challenges.
Trust your Maker to unlock this treasure inside of you, to show you your purpose that is unique to you, an know that your King in heaven sees you, He sees your worth and every detail of your inner being.
